 AGE VERIFICATION
As fines and penalties for serving underage customers become more severe, retailers are learning that some method of mandatory age verification is becoming a necessity. CardVisor provides an accurate, flexible and cost effective solution to a retailer's problem of age verification. The CardVisor age verification system not only displays the information necessary to perform age verification from the data scanned from the magnetic stripe or 2D bar code on a driver's license, it also stores the information scanned. This transaction log can be accessed to provide proof that an ID was checked on a specific date, together with the status (under or over age) of the cardholder on that date. The transaction log can also be used (depending on state law) as a database for marketing programs. Because the transaction log is a database of your customers that have visited your store, the information is much more valuable to you than, for example, a generic list of households in your ZIP code. Another advantage of the CardVisor is that it significantly improves a retailer's ability to detect fake or altered IDs. The user only has to compare the information displayed on the screen to the same information printed on the driver's license to detect inconsistencies. The transaction log is also a valuable source of information in those states that have "affirmative defense" legislation that permits a license holder to claim that they performed the necessary "due diligence" in checking for underage patrons. Given today's vigorous enforcement and severe penalties for underage infractions, preventing just one infraction more than pays for the CardVisor system. Any incremental revenue generated by marketing programs using the transaction log simply becomes icing on the cake! WHAT DOES CARDVISOR DO?
SERVING A WIDE VARIETY OF APPLICATIONS
The CardVisor age verification system, is a price/performance leader in the market. It consists of a version of the CardVisor software, a CardTool reader, a Handspring Palm as handheld computer, a HotSync cradle, connectivity software, and an optional bar code reader cradle with internal Li-Ion battery & charger. The bar code reader is necessary for licenses with a 2D bar code and no magnetic stripe (see coverage map for details). The CardVisor system has a large transaction log, which saves the last 6,000 scans. It can process 6,000 cards on a single battery charge and the magnetic stripe version is all packed into a pocket sized 1" x 3" x 6". It is ideal for checking IDs wherever and whenever it's most convenient. All versions of the CardVisor software save the basic driver license data with a date/time stamp. CardVisor II software adds the ability to record name, address and gender information, vital for enhancing customer contact. CardVisor III software adds a real-time VIP/Banned patron look-up capability to identify individuals when their license is swiped. It also allows notes to be appended via the main screen to the saved data for email, phone number, etc. The CardVisor system is very configurable. You determine what the age threshold should be (18, 19, 20, and/or 21). Each can have a different audible alarm sound. The age display can be set for years (YY) or years/months/days (YY,MM,DD). There is even a long and short version of happy birthday which can be played if desired! An optional 2D bar code cradle upgrade is designed for reading government issued drivers' licenses and ID cards, and sets a new benchmark for readability and ease of use. No need to "aim" or "focus", simply insert and remove the card. CARDVISOR I 
CardVisor I package is magnetic stripe only. The CardVisor I version of software calculates and displays the age, expiration and license number on the main screen. It then saves this information in memory with a date/time stamp. This is important when proving a license was checked for due dili-gence defenses. (Main screen shot shown left.)

The CardVisor II package has all the features of the CardVisor I package and adds the ability to capture name, gender, and address information. Shown on the left is a screen shot with name and gender allowing a cross check with that printed on the license. This is important in determining if the license is altered and creating a customer databases.

CardVisor III package has all the features of the CardVisor II package and adds a realtime look-up capability to identify VIP’s and banned patrons.
